In blogger website, there are several ready made blogger templates where you can use to customize your blog for your own preference. But sometimes you might want to choose third party themes. So I will show you how you can easily upload a new blogger theme to your blog in the following easy steps.

 

1. Find a theme for your blog

There are lot of websites that offer free themes for blogger blogs. You can search online for these themes or just visit Gooyabitemplates website to download a free theme.

 

2. Extract your file.

After downloading your theme file which most of the time is in .zip or .rar folder, make sure you locate an .XML file which will be used to upload to blogger website.

Now back to blogger dashboard, on the left side go to themes, hit the arrow button and click backup. Backup is important because it helps to restore your blog theme if anything goes wrong with your new uploaded theme.

 

3. Upload new theme

After backing up your current theme, now click on the arrow button next to customize and click on restore button. A pop up menu will show up to upload the file. You will then have to locate the .XML file that you previously extracted.

 


4. Confirm new changes on your blog

Once successful uploaded, you can confirm the changes on your blog.

 

5. Customize the new uploaded theme.

You can customize your theme by replacing, moving or deleting the sidebars on your blog. On the dashboard, find layout which is located on the left side. Click it and you will open your blogger layout. From there you can change and modify each element by dragging or editing it by using the pen button located on each of the theme element.
